"Any luck finding Mrs. Wright?" Garnet had flippantly asked, but Jake Wright knew that wasn't an option...could never be an option...not with an assassin on the loose whose sole goal in life was to execute the love of his life.

For years he'd resisted any and all relationships, realizing that to fall in love was to sign the woman's death warrant, but all it took was one chance encounter...one simple plane ride...and the deadly game was on.

Could Jake save the only woman he had ever loved? Or would the trained killer finally have his revenge?

Finding Mrs. Wright is the third book in the Dear Diary...Series.

Finding Mrs Wright Dear DiarySeries Book 3 edition by L M Reed Religion Spirituality eBooks

A super read. Spoiler alert.

This one starts with a man sitting in a dilapidated cabin set on the side of a hill. The man is dressed in a trench coat and his face is shadowed beneath a wide brimmed hat. The man was sitting a rickety old table polishing a musical instrument. The mans name is Fairchild.

The man pulls a cell phone from his pocket and walks out the door headed up the trail. He's looking for cell phone reception. Once he gets it he hits a number on his cell.

I. M. Donne is trying to finish the ninth book in his Jack Knight series. He's having a hard time. Donne has been writing this series for ten years. The books have made him rich and the movies have added millions to his bank account. Donne is 6'4" tall and he has grey brown hair, a beard and a gut. That's what everyone sees whenever Donne appears in public.

In reality Donne is actually Agent Jake Wright. He is 6'4" tall and weighs 238 pounds but he definitely doesn't have grey brown hair, a beard or a gut. Jake is forty eight years old and looks like a Native American, in fact that's just what he is. Native American. He's in excellent physical condition and an expert in unarmed combat and can handle any weapon as an expert. He's been donning this disguise for ten years in the quest to get Fairchild.

Fairchild is an assassin and Jake and his agency have been trying to catch or kill him for all those years. Jack is the only one who has ever seen the man. Jack killed Fairchild's wife by accident and Fairchild would like him dead. Hence his ten year disguise at I. M. Donne. Ten years and nothing yet.

Jake lives in a lovely house with every modern convenience plus every conceivable way to make his home secure. He has a housekeeper, Mrs. Maxwell, who comes twice a week to clean. She asks no questions, does what needs doing and minds her own business. That's just the way Jake wants it. A Jake who never goes anywhere without being disguises as I.M. Donne.

Jake also has Lady, his attack trained German Shepherd. Lady is well trained and she and Jack can almost talk to each other. Lady would have to die before anyone could lay a hand on Jake. Of course if they did Jack would have no problem killing them. He's one deadly and very capable guy.

Bullet had been his second dog. A yellow lab. Bullet had succumbed to illness and both Jack and Lady missed him. He had been one great friend and companion. Jack decides to get a yellow lab pup. This one he names Buckshot and Bullet this little hellion is not.

Jake doesn't have many friend but Mitch is one of them. Mitch is the actor who plays Jake in the movies based on the Jack Wright novels. These novels are all about Jake's life as an agent. Everything that happened in these novels and movies actually happened to Jake and Mitch is the actor who brings Jakes life to the big screen.

Besides Mitch Jake also has Shun and his family as friends. Shun is an expert in martial arts and he and Jake spar all the time. After ten years Jake can only claim two men as friends. Two men and no women. That's something Jake is grateful for. Any woman he would get involved with would become a target for Fairchild. A Fairchild who watches Jake.

Jake's agency tried to set up a sting to get Fairchild. They had Jake pretend to be seeing two different women. Fairchild wasn't biting though. In fact he sent Jake messages advising him he needed help in the women department. That was the last time that was tried. But this hiding has been going on for ten years and Jake is beginning to wonder if it will ever end.

Jakes gets a call from his boss, Garnet. They need to meet. Like all calls to his house from the agency anyone listening wouldn't hear anything about a meet. Just someone looking for someone who didn't live at Jakes house.

Jake heads out, sans his disguise Thank God, on a flight booked for him to Rio.

Once there Jake learns that Fairchild, the assassin has struck again. Another dead man. Fairchild used a dart which is his normal method of killing A dart is how he kills all of his targets.

Jake heads for Houston and his friend Shun and family. From there he will head back to Colorado where home is. While at Shun's house Jakes gets another call from Garnet. He has to hustle to the airport and this is where he sees a woman. A woman who will change his life.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Jake, Allison, Mark, Shun, Garnet, Al, Lady, Buckshot, Mrs. Maxwell who it turns out is related to Allison, Robert a lawyer, members of the agency, Fairchild, a Jake who has to maintain his disguise, an Allison who has no idea its a disguise, a kidnapping, death, a Jake who falls for Allison, A Jake who never thought he would fall for any woman, a Jake who knows anyone involved with him will become a target, a Buckshot who will ultimately save the day and Jake Wright doing his best to rescue Allison, take out Fairchild, a Fairchild who has a partner, and Jake Wright doing his best to save lives, get the bad guy and save the damned day.

Five Stars.

Wish the people who write these ebooks would let me read/edit them for left-out-word kinds of mistakes ; ), but it was pretty good anyway. ; )
Great one! Love the series!
It was a good book. It was a slow starter for me but afterwards, I did not want to put it down.
I realy enjoyed this book. It engages you in suspense that leads to a very pleasant end.
Could not put the series down. My mom also read and has kept them in her favs and has read them many times. I'm going to go through them all again myself
I love this series. Number three was a little hard to get into so I skipped it. I should had not skipped it. After I read all of the books I went back and read this one and after I got into it I really enjoyed it. This is a wonderful series of books to read.
Jake retired from the spy/assassin life and now writes books about it, hiding completely as Ian Donne, author; then he meets Allison, and when he can't help falling in love, he knows she's in danger from his nemesis, Fairchild.

(Though reviews are inherently subjective, I prefer to provide some organization to my opinions through the use of a personal rubric. The following notes may contain spoilers.)

Plot and Setting 3.5 -- Plot has unique elements and no major holes, but a few shaky bits and a slight lack of focus. The initial few chapters did not grab me, and I felt there was too much hinted at without sufficient explanation for a while. Buckshot's whole personality was fun, but felt overly convenient. Plot points in sub-plots are dropped or not resolved, and the epilogue only reinforces the mild cliffhanger. The "bonus material" where Jake meets Allison's daughter helps wrap up a few loose ends. Setting (especially timeline) is somewhat unclear or inconsistent. What season is this? How long does the whole tense stakeout bit actually last?

Characters 3 -- Most main characters are relatable, realistic, interesting, and/or dynamic. I did enjoy seeing Allison overcome her fear of dogs, and the glimpses of Jake's softer side, which he tries to hide/deny, are sweet. Minor characters and villains are almost exclusively stereotyped or simplified. Relationships between characters are not especially well developed, but what is there is generally good. As in book 1, they fall in love with just a look, so much so that she's very hurt when he turns away. I'm skeptical, but I do appreciate that they later build a relationship by spending time together and talking, even if he is in disguise at the time.

Mechanics and Writing 3.5-- A handful of typos, punctuation issues, or word errors, but nothing that seriously hinders understanding. Generally solid use of 1st person (Jake) POV. Average writing, with strong parts and parts that struggle. Some details are left out or only vaguely there, ie Sophia. She is apparently Allison's half-sister's blind mother, but her name is mentioned several times before I actually realized who she was.

Redeeming Value 4 -- Partially focused uplifting themes or lessons. Allison doesn't judge Jake/Ian by his appearance, but by his character, and her anger at him is based on feeling used rather than loved. She goes out of her way to see him when she learns her mistake, and speaks the truth of God's grace for all sinners, which he does appreciate and begins to latch on to. Sex, alcohol, violence, etc, are not glorified, but some shaky ground, eg violence and assassinations by both "good guys" and "bad guys".

Personal Enjoyment 4 -- I liked it a lot. Highly enjoyable and very entertaining, with perhaps an issue or two that tempered my pleasure. I’d enjoy reading it again.
